Home Brewed Coffee Saves Money!
Everyone is looking to save money these days. It’s become one of our primary goals, so we can save money on the basics to have more -fun- money to do the things we’d like to do. Never mind saving up for things like education and retirement. However, one thing people seem to be stuck on is their daily cup of coffee from their favorite coffee house. Now, this is all well and good – everyone needs a jolt of caffeine from time to time to get through the day. But did you ever think about how much money you’re spending on your coffee?
If the average person treats themselves to a latte per day, the money racks up quite quickly. Let’s say a person gets a large – or venti – latte per day either on their way to work or their lunch, or even on their way home. Generally speaking, that’s $6.95 per day. We’re not even going to add in tax.
$6.95 over the course of two weeks adds up to $97.30! That’s almost $100 that person has spent on coffee alone! And not even over the course of a month.
What if they changed their spending habits, though? What if they invested in a high quality coffee maker – like a Keurig, which is my favorite brand – and the accessories?
Well, if the average cost of a Keurig is around $150 brand new, and a 24 pack of K-Cups is $13.90 (as listed on Amazon), the grand total price is $163.90.
Now, if we take that $163.90 and divide that by the price of a large latte-
$163.90 / $6.95 = 23.5
The cost works out to be the same. Save $6.95 from your daily coffees for 24 days, and you’ll have enough money to buy a Keurig and a 24 pack of K-Cups. And many Keurigs will come with a 10 K-Cup sample pack already!
One month and the Keurig will have paid for itself!
And after that? Well. 24 K-Cups divided by the price of the package, which is $13.90 comes out to $1.72 per cup of coffee! And you’re paying $6.95? Even if you purchased specialty creamers for your coffee, you’d still be paying less than the price you’d pay at a coffee house! So if you really want to save money? Make your investments wisely and invest in a high quality coffee maker to get the best kind of coffee fix at home!
